Laser scanning and Photogrammetry

During the second year of university I spent a lot of time doing laser scanning and photogrammetry. Due to covid, I didn’t use the laser scanner until the year after but I gained a lot of experience on how to process laser scanning. We learnt the process of cleaning up the raw laser scan data, decimating the model and then combining this with photogrammetry data. During this year we also learnt the whole photogrammetry process, from taking the pictures to the final textured model using a combination of mushroom and instant meshes, as well as substance painter.

Outside of my second year module I have done other bits of laser scanning and photogrammetry which are also shown below. In my third year project I used photogrammetry of the tarmac on the real race track to recreate it for my virtual one, and laser scanned an old race tyre which I used for my tyre walls around the track.
